Pommard 1999, J-M Boillot

Thick plum colour with a mature fox-tinged rim. This Pommard kicks off with a meaty, nutty, walnut nose. This pinot is a real minotaur. Tannic, chewy, heavy plums yet savoury from beginning to end. A no-nonsense big, masculine wine. Structure, power. Impressive and great with oxtail cooked in white Burgundy with grapes. This Pommard has aged well and retains its four-square character. Very enjoyable but limited complexity.
