Monthélie 2008, Eric de Suremain

This wine captures the essence of the tricky 2008 vintage for pinot in Burgundy. Un nez confit, cloves, cherry with some rustic edges on the palate and a flash of acidity. This will age well with the fresh cherry acidity. But its difficult to discern the character of the wine I'm guessing due to the inconsistent growing conditions from July to September 2008. A vintage where one needs to taste before buying. Courtesy of the Justerini & Brooks annual Burgundy tasting.
